Ontario Office Works Inc. operates a component of the Self Employment Development program for Welland and Fonthill for the Region of Niagara. All clients are referred to us by regional community services - Ontario Works.

Misconceptions

· You have to be an “Entrepreneur”
· You need “a lot of money” to get started
· You have to be a professional or have a PhD
· Your business idea has to be unique
· You must know all aspects of running a   business?
· Regulations, bookkeeping, etc.

It provides:

• Self-assessment guidance to see if you are ready to be an entrepreneur
• Assistance in the development of a business
• Ongoing business skill development and mentoring
• A three week in class training program
• Possible income support throughout the duration of the program
  

As an Ontario Works Participation Option, to be eligible for the program your must have:

• A business idea
• Full time hours to commit to your business
• Willingness to develop a business plan demonstrating the viability of your idea
• Access to start up monies, if required
• Motivation and drive to make your idea become a reality
